Review note: This app presents the underlying mathematics and theory behind EV charging calculations, together with worked examples. It aims to help users obtain answers and, more importantly, understand the derivation of those results.

EV Pie is designed to support understanding of EV charging and to estimate charging times with ease. The following features are available within the app:

• Charge Time: Estimates how long charging will take based on the vehicle’s current state of charge and the target level, with explanations of the assumptions used.

• Charging Modes: Describes the internationally defined EV charging modes, including their typical applications and characteristics.

• Connector Types: Details the common international EV connector types used to connect a vehicle to a charging source.

• Charge Cost: Estimates the cost of charging from empty to a specified level, incorporating current tariffs and rate information.

• Inlet Finder: Identifies the location of the vehicle’s charging inlet by selecting the EV model.
